Where, when & organizer
The Daytona 500 anchors Speedweeks beside an airport that still needs a confirmed handling and parking plan.
- Hosted in
- Daytona Beach, Florida, United States
- Usual timing
- Usually February
- Organized by
- NASCAR / Daytona International Speedway
Do not assume a fixed February weekend: the speedway’s published 2027 race is 21 February.
Check the organizer’s current program before committing to tickets or travel. Airport comparisons here describe the listed host or representative itinerary; rotating events require the actual edition’s venue.
Nearest airport options
| Airport | IATA / ICAO | Planning role |
|---|---|---|
| Daytona Beach International | DAB / KDAB | Airport beside the speedway |
| Orlando Sanford International | SFB / KSFB | Alternative inland with a longer drive |
| Orlando Executive | ORL / KORL | Business aviation alternative in Orlando |
Proximity does not establish aircraft suitability or permission to arrive. Your operator should assess the aircraft, payload, current procedures, border clearance and available handling at the selected gateway.
Ground & helicopter transfers
The final journey
Daytona Beach International is adjacent to the speedway, but pedestrian and vehicle access still follow event rules. Confirm your grandstand or hospitality gate and the pickup plan.
Can you arrive by helicopter?
Any helicopter operation near the speedway must comply with current airspace restrictions and approved landing arrangements. A fixed-wing arrival plus ground transfer is the baseline.
Airport slots, parking & operating constraints
Ask the FBO about Speedweeks parking, reservations and operating procedures; check FAA notices near the venue. A close airport does not guarantee an immediate arrival slot or overnight parking.
Track the accepted airport schedule, handling, aircraft parking and any permits separately. Ask whether the aircraft will stay or reposition, and check the current AIP, supplements and NOTAMs with the operating team. A venue ticket or FBO booking is not an air-traffic clearance.
Admission & event fees
Reserved seats, multi-day packages and hospitality differ; verify the race day and ticket conditions.
Use the official organizer’s current sales information for published ticket prices and access conditions. Where no current public tariff is verified, request a direct quote rather than relying on a guessed fee. Hospitality, invitations and ticket availability can change between editions.
Request an itemized aviation quote covering handling, parking, permits, fuel, repositioning and any event charges. Budget separately for hotels, drivers, helicopter connections and admission unless the contract explicitly includes them.
How to plan your trip
- Secure the right access. Confirm the actual year, venue, session and admission or invitation before fixing travel.
- Choose a workable arrival. Compare a primary airport and an approved alternative with the operating team, including weather, aircraft suitability and the final transfer.
- Reserve the aircraft stay. Obtain handling, parking and accepted arrival/departure arrangements. Record any repositioning and its cost.
- Connect the last mile. Book the correct vehicle, venue entrance and any authorized helicopter leg, with luggage and a ground fallback.
- Reconcile the itinerary. Check passenger documents, local dates, baggage, crew duty, return pickup and the contact authorized to approve changes.
