Where, when & organizer
Davos meeting travel combines restricted delegate access, winter ground transport and event-period aviation notices.
- Hosted in
- Davos / Klosters, Switzerland
- Usual timing
- Usually January
- Organized by
- World Economic Forum
Zurich and other approved gateways need their own arrival plans. Samedan is an alternative region, not Davos’s own airport, and WEF airspace restrictions are edition-specific.
Check the organizer’s current program before committing to tickets or travel. Airport comparisons here describe the listed host or representative itinerary; rotating events require the actual edition’s venue.
Nearest airport options
| Airport | IATA / ICAO | Planning role |
|---|---|---|
| Zurich | ZRH / LSZH | Principal international gateway; onward winter road transfer |
| St. Gallen–Altenrhein | ACH / LSZR | Regional alternative; confirm aircraft acceptance and handling |
| Engadin / Samedan | SMV / LSZS | Specialist alpine alternative; compare the actual winter onward route |
Proximity does not establish aircraft suitability or permission to arrive. Your operator should assess the aircraft, payload, current procedures, border clearance and available handling at the selected gateway.
Ground & helicopter transfers
The final journey
Book a winter-equipped transfer to the exact Davos or Klosters hotel and delegate entrance. Samedan is a different mountain itinerary: verify pass closures and the viable road or rail-car route before choosing it.
Can you arrive by helicopter?
Any helicopter connection requires the current event permissions, an approved landing site, weather and a licensed operator. Confirm delegate access and the final vehicle leg separately, with a ground alternative.
Airport slots, parking & operating constraints
Zurich airport slots, aircraft parking and WEF-period permissions are separate arrangements. Use the current year’s AIP supplements and NOTAMs for restricted airspace and any special airport procedures; last year’s WEF notice is not a 2027 clearance.
Track the accepted airport schedule, handling, aircraft parking and any permits separately. Ask whether the aircraft will stay or reposition, and check the current AIP, supplements and NOTAMs with the operating team. A venue ticket or FBO booking is not an air-traffic clearance.
Admission & event fees
Official meeting participation is invitation or accreditation based; a Davos hotel stay is not delegate admission.
Use the official organizer’s current sales information for published ticket prices and access conditions. Where no current public tariff is verified, request a direct quote rather than relying on a guessed fee. Hospitality, invitations and ticket availability can change between editions.
Request an itemized aviation quote covering handling, parking, permits, fuel, repositioning and any event charges. Budget separately for hotels, drivers, helicopter connections and admission unless the contract explicitly includes them.
How to plan your trip
- Secure the right access. Confirm the actual year, venue, session and admission or invitation before fixing travel.
- Choose a workable arrival. Compare a primary airport and an approved alternative with the operating team, including weather, aircraft suitability and the final transfer.
- Reserve the aircraft stay. Obtain handling, parking and accepted arrival/departure arrangements. Record any repositioning and its cost.
- Connect the last mile. Book the correct vehicle, venue entrance and any authorized helicopter leg, with luggage and a ground fallback.
- Reconcile the itinerary. Check passenger documents, local dates, baggage, crew duty, return pickup and the contact authorized to approve changes.
