Sabreliner 40 family
The Sabreliner 40 adapted North American’s military trainer and utility-jet experience to corporate travel. Its swept wing and compact cabin established the civilian Sabreliner family, providing business operators with a purpose-built twinjet during the early growth of executive aviation.

Overview
Program history
The design drew its name and visual character from North American’s Sabre fighters. The civilian 40 followed the T-39 programme, then evolved through changes to engines, weights and equipment. Later stretched and turbofan-powered Sabreliners expanded the cabin and mission, while the 40 remained the short-body starting point.
