Lockheed JetStar / L-1329 JetStar
The Lockheed JetStar was an early purpose-built business jet, recognizable by four rear-mounted engines and large external wing tanks. Its cabin and long-distance capability attracted corporate and government operators at a time when dedicated executive jets were still a new category.

Overview
Program history
The JetStar began with a military utility-transport objective but developed into a civilian business aircraft. Two twin-engine prototypes preceded the four-engine production design. Later JetStar II aircraft and 731 conversions replaced the turbojets with turbofans, so photographs and performance should distinguish the original airframe standard from those later developments.
