Westwind I
The Westwind I introduced turbofan engines to IAI’s established mid-wing business-jet line. Its tip tanks and unusual wing position distinguish it from many later executive jets, while the propulsion change developed the earlier turbojet-powered Westwind into a more capable business transport.

Overview
Program history
The Model 1124 Westwind I followed the stretched 1123, replacing its turbojets with Garrett TFE731 turbofans and updating systems, avionics and the cabin. Certification came in 1976. The later Westwind II retained the family concept while adding winglets and aerodynamic refinements, before the Astra introduced a more substantially revised business-jet platform.
