Eclipse Aviation / Eclipse Aerospace
Eclipse 500
The Eclipse 500 brought twin-engine jet performance to a compact, single-pilot aircraft aimed at owner-pilots and short business trips. Its straight wing, sidestick controls and integrated systems reflected an effort to make the transition from high-performance piston aircraft more approachable.

Overview
Program history
Eclipse pursued a very-light-jet market based on smaller travelling parties and comparatively low operating costs. The EA500 received its initial US type certificate in 2006. Subsequent ownership changes and equipment upgrades produced several fleet configurations; later Eclipse 550 aircraft and upgraded 500s share the certified EA500 lineage but differ in installed systems.
